I’ve just returned from an amazing cruise on the spectacular Mekong Delta from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Siem Reap in Cambodia with Scenic Tours on their “Scenic Spirit” ship. What an experience!! From the quality of the staff, service, food, rooms to the sights we saw and the incredibly knowledgeable Scenic guides who escorted us every step of the way. Nothing was left to chance.
The ship itself is fantastic. No more than 66 guests on board which gives it a wonderfully intimate feel. The rooms are very spacious. There is a separate bedroom and living room, a balcony, large bathrooms and another small room containing a wardrobe, draws and a stocked bar fridge (which is included in your fare and topped up as you need it). You have your own butler to tend to your needs. On board there is the main restaurant, Sky Lounge, Sun Deck, gym, laundry(free to use as often as you wish),a library and the Pool Area.
The food was outstanding – every meal different and even the buffet options were varied and very fresh. The service of every staff member on board was of the highest quality. You would be hard pressed to find fault here.
I cannot speak highly enough of the Scenic Guides. All locals to the area and have a long background in tourism, their knowledge and guidance was second to none. They have a genuine care and love for sharing their nations way of life and history and all had a wonderful sense of humor. You are provided with listening devices for the entire trip so no issues missing any information. Each night there is a 'Port Talk' in the Sky Lounge (including canapes and drinks) to make sure everyone knew what to expect, where to be, when and what to take.
Your Scenic Spirit cruise includes all your amazing meals, drinks on board, sightseeing tours with your experienced Scenic guides, accommodation on board, Port Charges and Taxes.
The best time to travel to the Mekong is October – May.
